OUR EXTENDED FAMILES

We love spending time with our friends and family. We recently took a trip to northern California for the 4th of July to visit Anne-Marie’s large Italian family and toured around San Francisco, took a boat ride to Sausalito, went to the boardwalk in Santa Cruz and rode lots of roller coaster rides and had a really great time. The best part is when the family gathers around for dinner on the 4th and days leading up to the 4th. Robert helps to grill the food for the 30+ people that are there to celebrate and we have a great time with family laughing and enjoying each other’s company. On the 4th, all our family and friends walk down to the beach and watch fireworks. It’s a pretty spectacular show and a BIG family tradition that has been going on for more than 25 years! We can’t wait to include your child in these types of fun activies!

We are so blessed to have Anne-Marie’s mom and so many great friends that are within 10-15 minutes of our home. We see our friends on a regular basis at church, or throughout the week for dinner or coffee. Many of our friends have young children and we are so excited to have this child be surrounded with our loving friends and family!

Our Home & Neighborhood

We are both Florida natives and love living in the sunshine state! We are so blessed to live in a nice community which has lots of community amenities such as a large pool, tennis, basketball and volleyball courts, two playgrounds and a soccer field. We like to take our dog to the soccer field in the neighborhood and he typically gets a lot of attention because he’s such a cute and friendly dog. The neighborhood kids love coming over to say hi to him and he’s such a good boy, always sitting pretty to let them pet him.

We like going to the annual art festivals in our community. We enjoy taking our dog and walking through all the unique art that each artist is featuring. The food is always good…the atmosphere is nice to just walk around and feel the energy of the festival. The city closes down the streets so that everyone can meander btw the art booths, in and out of the shops and restaurants too.

The also enjoy going to the local farmer’s markets. We’ve gone and purchased some of the local honey from our honey farmers nearby and have also got some fresh fruits/veggies.

We think going to the festivals or farmer’s markets will be fun to bring a child to b/c they always have little tastes, or fresh kettle corn being cooked up…Rob LOVES kettle corn. We envision our child sitting on top of Rob’s shoulders, with Anne-Marie walking with our dog and just experiencing the sights, sounds and tastes of festivals or farmer’s markets.

Our church does a service project several times a year where we go into the community and volunteer to spruce up a home, work at a food pantry or with the elderly. We like to participate in this event and normally have a group of our friends volunteer together when we participate in the service project.

What it Means to be Parents and What we Like Most or Expect to Like Most About Being Parents

To be a parent would just mean so much to us. We love interacting with our friend’s children– We like to go eat ice cream, play with their toys, read a book at bed time or just hang out. We really like to act like big kids and have fun. We’ve also biked together along some of the trails in our neighborhood with our friends and their kids. Another friend’s daughter and Anne-Marie like to read together or play with her toys at their house.

We can’t wait for our family to grow with a special child. We are both looking forward to those special moments like first smiles, laughs and words, and learning about your child’s personality and interests.

To be able to love a child every day, tuck them in at night, talk with them about their dreams and encourage them to pursue those dreams. Anne-Marie is looking forward to family breakfasts with our child and car talk on the way to school. Robert is really looking forward to being a Dad this child can talk with about anything and sharing in his hobbies with them. Robert loves to take photos and is excited to share that hobby with this child. We also recently have been sprucing up our planter beds and Robert has been a frequenter of our local nurseries. It’s exciting to pick out colorful flowers and pots and we can imagine our child coming with us and picking out some plants. Robert also likes to build things…we both built a lighted table for our patio and we both picked out the glass tiles together and completed the project together over a weekend. We both just enjoy doing things together, and we know this child will be a big helper in any project we do!

Education we will Provide

We plan to give this child every opportunity we can. Robert excelled in school and was afforded the opportunity to go to a college preparatory school; he enjoyed his schooling because he was given the opportunity to follow his interests and in turn excelled in high school and college. Anne-Marie went to a private school during most of her schooling but excelled in competitive co-ed cheerleading so her parents allowed her to transfer to the very large, local public high school to compete on their cheerleading squad, which gave her lifelong memories of wining multiple state championships and individual awards. In turn Anne-Marie’s confidence was boosted and the skills she learned helped her to make the college cheerleading squad as an incoming freshman.

Every child is unique and we plan to learn about your child’s strengths and interests to help mold their schooling experience so that your child will thrive. Our plan is to send this child to private school when they are of school age and allow their interests and strengths to drive our decisions down the road for middle/high school like our parents did.
